Thomas Hanna Somatics


Somatic Exercises involve performing movements for the sake of movement. Throughout the exercise, you focus on your inner experience, connecting the conscious brain to your body, expanding your internal awareness. Through simple, functional and gentle movements you rewire your subconscious brain to get out of habitual movement and holding patterns that cause tightness, tension and pain. Unlike with typical workouts you do not try to do as many exercises as possible. Instead, you are trying to perform each exercise in a way that teaches you something new about your body and habitual movement patterns. For that to be possible we have to move slowly and mindfully.
